Q

I don't have a Fisher Scientific account number. Can I still place an order on your Web site?

A

Yes. You may place an order without an account number; this is called a "cash sale," even though you must pay by credit card. When you log on to the Fisher Web site as a Guest, you may browse the catalog and build a shopping cart. However, before the Fisher ordering system accepts your order, you must specify shipping and payment information. Once this form is submitted, your order is released to a Fisher Customer Service Representative who will process your request on the same day. State and Federal regulations prohibit the sale of some items - chemicals, certain glassware, balances, syringes and needles - from being sold to individuals.

Q

I want to set up an account with Fisher. What do I do?

A

To establish a valid Fisher account, select the "register" button. Create a user name and password, then select "new account." You can choose to complete the New Account Application form online, or download the file, complete and return by e-mail or fax. Every field is required, and your application cannot be processed with missing information. If you have questions, call a Fisher Customer Service Representative at 800.766.7000 for assistance. Once Fisher validates your account, your purchase requests will be released.

Q

I already have a Fisher account number. When can I start ordering through the Fisher Web site?

A

Almost immediately! The Fisher Web site is designed to process purchasing requests through a secure connection. That's why we ask our customers to register for access before they begin ordering. When you enter through the Fisher Web site homepage, you will be given the option of registering for access to the Fisher ordering system. Registration takes only a few minutes, and you will need to supply your valid Fisher account number, billing, payment and shipping information, as well as create your unique user name and password. Once your account number is validated, your order will be processed. On subsequent visits, you can log on with your user name and password for immediate access.

Do I have to search the catalog - browsing from item to item - each time to "build" an order?

A

No. The Fisher Web site features Rapid Order - this function is designed to save time when placing orders for items you frequently request. Rapid Order can be accessed from the homepage after you log on. Each time you create an order through the Fisher Web site, your order history is recorded. When you begin ordering, our Web site features allow you to save order templates and countless hot list items, so that on return visits, you will not need to "rebuild" an order. The site will also let you edit and delete your saved templates and hot list items as often as needed.

Q

My company has many purchasing agents who submit orders for various departments. Can I place an order for someone else?

A

Yes. The Fisher Web site allows an unlimited number of purchasing agents to log on to the same account. When each of your agents registers their account profile, they can select a user name and password specific to them. This way, your accounts can be shared among agents.

Q

Once I submit my order, how do I receive an acknowledgment for permanent record?

A

When you submit your order - or "checkout" - an order status screen appears. This screen will tell you which items are being shipped and which items are backordered, with pending date available. You can use your Web browser's "Print" function to print the screen.

Can I order any item through the Fisher Web site?

A

If you have a valid Fisher account, any item you have ordered previously may be submitted through fishersci.com. However, Federal and State regulations prohibit some items, such as chemicals, balances, some glassware, needles, and syringes from being sold over the Internet. I'm outside of the United States. Can I still order through the Fisher Web site?

A

Can I override my "Ship-To" location and direct my order to arrive at a different address?

A

No. For the security of our customers, "Ship-To" information listed with each Fisher account cannot be changed.

Are packing slips and MSDS sheets included with the shipment when delivered?

A

Ordering from fishersci.com is the same as ordering over the phone or by fax. Necessary paperwork and MSDSs, if required, will only be included the first time a chemical is ordered.

Are there additional shipping or handling charges assessed when placing orders through the Fisher Web site?

A

No, all orders are subject to the terms and conditions of your agreement with Fisher Scientific. We do not assess additional charges for placing orders over the Internet. When you do place an order, you may choose your preferred delivery option and receive confirmation of estimated shipping charges.

What payment methods are available through fishersci.com?

A

Our system supports payment by credit card and purchase orders. Registered users may arrange for payment by MasterCard, Visa and American Express credit cards or submit a P.O. number for invoicing. Guests who order online must pay by credit card or mail their request and payment by check to their nearest Fisher Customer Service location - see U.S. Customer Service locations for addresses.

Billing Information

Is the price displayed on my screen a contract or a list price?

A

For registered users with contract pricing, the contract price is displayed right on the screen. At times when the Fisher ordering system is off-line, list price only will appear on the screen - your contract price still applies. For all others, the price displayed is the current list price.

Is the total price calculated on the screen the same as what will appear on my invoice?

A

The total price column adds estimated tax, freight, and handling charges, as well as contract price (if available). The actual total price to be reconciled may vary. For exact amounts, call your Fisher Customer Service Representative at 800.766.7000.

Returns


Q

How do I return a product?

A

Before returning any item, you must obtain a Return Authorization Number from Fisher.

If you are registered and logged in, you can request authorization online using the Return Products link in the upper right-hand corner of every page.

Alternatively, call 800.766.7000 to obtain a Return Authorization Number.

Be sure to write this number on all shipping labels and correspondence about this shipment. Do not write on cartons. Returns made without a Return Authorization Number will be returned collect tothe sender.

Ship to your customer-assigned warehouse or the manufacturer for direct-ship products, being careful to address the shipment to the street address. Shippers will not deliver to Post Office Box numbers.

Q

Is there a time limit on returns?

A

Returns must be made within 30 days of issuance of the Return Authorization Number. We require that you pre-pay shipping costs; CODs will not be accepted. Credit cannot be provided without a Return Authorization Number.

Can I return hazardous materials?

A

Return shipments of hazardous materials must be packed, marked, labeled, and shipped in accordance with DOT regulations governing transportation of hazardous materials and any other applicable requirements.

Which products are returnable?

A

Fisher will provide full credit for the following:

  • Products not supplied in accordance with your orders
  • Products that are defective at the time you receive them

Returns not acceptable for credit include:

  • Discontinued products
  • Products that have been personalized or customized
  • Items supplied to the customer as an accommodation, including without limitation, third-party purchases
  • Items not purchased from Fisher
  • Refrigerated or temperature-controlled products
  • Products that are outdated, shelf-worn, or used and therefore unsuitable for return to stock and resale as new
  • Reagents, diagnostics, or chemicals that have been opened
  • Broken thermometers or any materials containing free mercury (Note: Fisher cannot arrange for the treatment or disposal of mercury)

Q

Does Fisher have a Freight Claim Policy in force?

A

Yes. We take great care in packing your order; however, occasional damage or shortages are unavoidable. As soon as you receive a Fisher shipment, carefully unpack and inspect it. If you find damages or shortages:

  • Do not accept the shipment until the carrier's driver makes a damage notation on your delivery receipt or freight bill.
  • Immediately request that the carrier's inspector make an inspection. If the inspector does not comply with your request, prepare an affidavit that you notified the carrier's inspector on a certain date and the inspector failed to make the inspection.
  • Keep all containers and packing material for the inspection. If you later discover concealed damage, you must request an inspection within 15 days of delivery.

Does fishersci.com use "cookies?"

A

Yes, but only to ensure that each Web page you visit recognizes your entire visit, a process called "session tracking." Session tracking, for example, allows you to place products in your Shopping Cart while browsing for other products. Saving cookies to your computer is the most efficient way to track sessions. Fisher does not use cookies or the information obtained through cookies for any purpose unrelated to your activities on fishersci.com.
