In Western blots, less than 5% cross-reactivity with the ectodomains of recombit human ADAM9, 10, 15, 17, and 19 is observed. This antibody detects an epitope within aa 201-497 of recombit human ADAM8 which corresponds to the metalloprotease and disintegrin-like domains. Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS. Endoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody by the LAL method.This gene encodes a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease domain) family. Members of this family are membrane-anchored proteins structurally related to snake venom disintegrins, and have been implicated in a variety of biological processes involving cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, including fertilization, muscle development, and neurogenesis. The protein encoded by this gene may be involved in cell adhesion during neurodegeneration.
