Desmin Rabbit anti-Human, Mouse, Polyclonal, Invitrogen
Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody
Manufacturer: Invitrogen PA137556
Desmin is a 53kDa intermediate filament protein expressed in cardiac, skeletal, and smooth muscle cells, as well as lung tissue. In skeletal and cardiac muscle cells, desmin is localized at the Z-disk region and the intercalated disk. In smooth muscle tissue, desmin is expressed throughout the cells. During development, levels of desmin expression vary, being present at low levels in the early stages of myoblast replication and increasing during terminal differentiation. Unlike vimentin, desmin is expressed in both differentiating and mature muscle cells. Inhibiting desmin expression blocks myoblast fusion and myotube formation, suggesting that desmin is crucial during myogenesis. This antibody is predicted to react with bovine, chicken, canine, amphibian, porcine, rabbit and rat based on sequence homology.A suggested positive control is skeletal muscle or sarcoma.
