Description

PA1-30707 detects IRS2 from human samples. PA1-30707 has been successfully used in immunoprecipitation, Western blot applications. The PA1-30707 immunogen is a synthetic peptide (YKASpSPAESS) corresponding to amino acids 727-736 of human IRS 2 at the phosphorylated site of Serine 731, also correlates to amino acids 129-138 of mouse IRS 2 at the phosphorylation sites of Serine 133 and to amino acids 229-238 of rat IRS 2 at the serine phosphorylation site 233.

This gene encodes the insulin receptor substrate 2, a cytoplasmic signaling molecule that mediates effects of insulin, insulin-like growth factor 1, and other cytokines by acting as a molecular adaptor between diverse receptor tyrosine kinases and downstream effectors. The product of this gene is phosphorylated by the insulin receptor tyrosine kinase upon receptor stimulation, as well as by an interleukin 4 receptor-associated kinase in response to IL4 treatment.
