PA1-31084 detects JWA from human samples. PA1-31084 has been successfully used in Western blot applications. The PA1-31084 immunogen is: Synthetic peptide: NRLTDYISKVKE (Human) (C terminal). Store product as a concentrated solution. Centrifuge briefly prior to opening the vial. For short-term storage (1-2 weeks), product can be stored at 4°C. For long-term storage, aliquot and store product at -20° C or below, avioiding multiple freeze-thaw cycles.

JWA protein expression is affected by vitamin A and may be associated with the cytoskeleton. A protein similar to JWA in rats may play a role in the regulation of cell differentiation by inhibiting the cell membrane glutamate transporter EAAC1. The expression of the rat gene is upregulated by retinoic acid, which results in a specific reduction in EAAC1-mediated glutamate transport.
