In Western blots, reacts with full length Kininogen (aa 21-661) and several forms of the light chain starting at residue 389, and does not react with the heavy chain. In Western blots, no cross-reactivity with recombit mouse (rm) Cystatin A, B, C, E/M, recombit human (rh) Cystatin D, F, S, SA, SN, rmCystatin/Stefin Homolog, rmFetuin A, rhFetuin B, rmHPRG, rhKininogen, or rhKininostatin is observed. Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.This gene uses alternative splicing to generate two different proteins- high molecular weight kininogen (HMWK) and low molecular weight kininogen (LMWK). HMWK is essential for blood coagulation and assembly of the kallikrein-kinin system. Also, bradykinin, a peptide causing numerous physiological effects, is released from HMWK. In contrast to HMWK, LMWK is not involved in blood coagulation. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
