Description

This antibody detects MDM2 (murine double minute-2) protein alone or in complex with p53, E2F1, and retinoblastoma protein. p53 and MDM2 function in mutual regulation; activation of p53 results in expression of MDM2 which consequently inhibits the ability of wild type p53 to stimulate expression of target genes. MDM2 is frequently overexpressed in the nuclei of soft tissue sarcomas, and to a much lesser extent in a wide variety of malignancies, such as cancer in the bladder, breast, testes, cervix, glial cells, and a range of hematological disorders.
