Description

PA3-115 detects PAC1 in human samples. PA3-115 has been successfully used in Western blot, immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry procedures. By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~40-60 kDa protein representing PAC1 in human samples. In immunohistochemistry, PAC1 immunoreactivity is predomitly localized to the plasma membrane. PA3-115 immunogen is a synthetic peptide, KLH conjugated, corresponding to the residues L(506) S K S S S Q I R M S G L P A D N L A T(525) of human VPAC2 receptor.

The pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating peptide receptor (PAC1) is a member of a family of three G-protein coupled receptors which mediate VIP (vasoactive intestinal peptide) and PACAP (pituitary adenlyate cyclase activating peptide) function in a variety of tissues. PAC1 demonstrates a higher affinity for PACAP than VIP. Expression of the VIP and VACAP receptors has been linked to the presence of human tumors.
