PA1-4217 detects the Par-4 protein in human samples. PA1-4217 has been successfully used in Western blot procedures. The PA1-4217 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues M(1) A T G G Y R(7) C V(334) V G Q L T R(340) of the N- and C-termini of human Par4, separated by a cysteine.

Prostate apoptosis response protein (Par-4) is an ~38 kDa protein containing a leucine zipper at its carboxy terminus. The leucine zipper is required for Par-4 function during apoptosis and has also been shown to directly interact with Wilm’s Tumor Suppressor, WT-1. Par-4 is up-regulated in apoptotic prostate cells and has also been observed at ~18 times higher concentration in human brain tissue from Alzheimer ft.s patients when compared to unaffected brain tissue.
