PLP1 Rabbit anti-Mouse, Polyclonal, Invitrogen
Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody
Manufacturer: Invitrogen PA3151
PA3-151 detects proteolipid protein in mouse samples. PA3-151 has been used successfully in Western blot and immunocytochemistry procedures. By Western blot this antibody detects a ~23-26 kDa proteins representing the proteolipid protein and the splice variant DM20 in adult mouse brain samples. The PA3-151 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal residues K(269) L M G R G T K(276) of PLP.Myelin proteins associated with the central nervous system (CNS) are thought to be unique to the CNS, and play a role in the compaction, stabilization, and maintece of myelin sheaths, as well as in oligodendrocyte development and axonal survival. The proteolipid protein (PLP) and the splice variant DM20 are the predomit myelin proteins in the CNS. PLP is also one of the most extensively studied myelin proteins because of the prevelance of PLP mutations amongst humans and animals. Such mutations can lead to abnormal myelin formation resulting in conditions such as X-linked Pelizaeus-Merzbacher disease and spastic paraplegia type 2.
