PA1-809 detects PNR from rat and human samples. PA1-809 has been successfully used in Western blot procedures. By Western blot, this antibody detects an ~42 kDa protein representing PNR from rat tissue extracts. The PA1-809 immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues R(392) K T I G N T P M E K L L C D M F K N(410) of human PNR. This sequence is completely conserved between mouse and chicken. This immunizing peptide (cat. No. PEP-237) can be used for neutralization and control experiments.

The photoreceptor-specific nuclear receptor (PNR) is a recently identified nuclear transcription factor.  PNR expression pattern appears to be restricted in the retina, specific to photoreceptor cells.  PNR has been shown to share structural similarity with TLX, an orphan receptor.  Despite distinct differences in the DNA binding domain, studies have shown that PNR is capable of recognizing a subset of TLX target sequences in vitro.  Recent studies suggest that PNR plays a support role in the regulation of signaling pathways intrinsic to the photoreceptor cell function. The corresponding gene for the PNR is NR2E3.
