HYB 295-15-02 detects Poliovirus type 1 in virus samples. There is no cross-reactivity with poliovirus type 2 and 3. HYB 295-15-02 has been successfully used in ELISA procedures. HYB 295-15-02 immunogen is Polio virus type 1 (inactivated). NOTE: Concentration is lot-dependent and can vary from 0.85-1.15 mg/mLPoliovirus is a single-stranded RNA virus that belongs to the Picornavirus family, characterized by their small RNA genome (7.2bk to 8.5 kb). Poliovirus is a enterovirus which primarily infects the gastroentestinal assiciated lymphoid tissue (GALT) and can eventually spread to the central nervous system, causing paralysis. Mortality, though very rare, is usually due to respiratory failure by paralysis of the intercostal muscles and diaphragm. There are three separate types of the virus: Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3.
