Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a family of enzymes that are responsible for the degradation of extracellular matrix components such as collagen, laminin and proteoglycans. These enzymes are involved in normal physiological processes such as embryogenesis and tissue remodeling and may play an important role in arthritis, periodontitis, and metastasis.

PA1-21145 detects TIMP-2 in Human samples.PA1-21145 has been successfully used in Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) procedures. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min.PA1-21145 immunogen is a synthetic peptide derived from the N-terminal half of human TIMP-2..
