Description

The 423524 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to Tetraspanin-27 (Tspan-27) which is also known as CD82, R2, C33, KAI1, 4F9, IA4, and ST6. The CD82 glycoprotein is a member of tetraspanin superfamily that has four putative transmembrane domains. CD82 is widely expressed on a variety of cell types including granulocytes, monocytes, fibroblasts, epithelial cells, endothelial cells, CD34+ progenitor cells, and at varying levels on T cell and B cell subsets. CD82 associates with other surface molecules including integrins, MHC molecules, CD37, CD53, and CD81 and forms signaling receptor complexes. These can regulate cellular responses including the activation of monocytes and costimulation of T cells. CD82 appears to play a role in the suppression of tumor cell metastasis.
