Description: This Ab204 monoclonal antibody detects human DDX5 protein also known as DEAD box protein 5 and RNA helicase p68. This antibody has been reported to cross-react with mouse and rat orthologs of DDX5 protein. Applications Reported: This Ab204 antibody has been reported for use in western blot and Immunocytochemistry. (Fluorochrome-conjugated Ab204 is recommended for use in flow cytometry.) Applications Tested: This Ab204 antibody has been tested by western blot of mouse lymph node cells. This may be used at less than or equal to 4.0 μg/mL.DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases. They are implicated in a number of cellular processes involving alteration of RNA secondary structure, such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. Based on their distribution patterns, some members of this family are believed to be involved in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division. This gene encodes a DEAD box protein, which is a RNA-dependent ATPase, and also a proliferation-associated nuclear antigen, specifically reacting with the simian virus 40 tumor antigen. This gene consists of 13 exons, and alternatively spliced transcripts containing several intron sequences have been detected, but no isoforms encoded by these transcripts have been identified.
