Description

Permeates cell membranes. Fura 2-AM, MP Biomedicals is a fluorescent probe for Ca2+ and is used to determine cystolic Ca2+. Fura 2-AM is the acetoxymethyl ester of Fura 2. It is metabolized in vivo to the active ligand Fura 2.

  • Able to permeate cell membranes and load Fura 2 into cells
  • Inside cells, Fura 2-AM is rapidly hydrolyzed by cytoplasmic esterases

Solubility Information The acetoxymethyl ester of the chelator is soluble in dimethylsulfoxide (10mg/mL) and in nonpolar solvents such as chloroform, acetone and benzene. It is insoluble in water or methanol.
