Description

IKZF3 is a hemopoietic zinc finger DNA-binding protein that acts as a central regulator of lymphoid differentiation and is implicated in leukemogenesis. It is a 509 amino acid containing nuclear protein and a member of the IKAROS family of C2H2- type zinc-finger proteins and zinc finger protein, subfamily 1A with six C2H2- type zinc-fingers. IKZF3 may form homodimers or heterodimers and is known to interact with IKZF4 and IKZF5. A well known transcription factor, IKZF3, plays an important role in the regulation of B lymphocyte proliferation and differentiation and participates in chromatin remodeling. IKZF3 plays a role in the control of T cell death by regulating the expression of BCL2 in acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Strong expression of IKZF3 is usually detected in peripheral blood leukocytes, spleen and thymus and low expression in liver, small intestine, and lung.
