IL-2 Monoclonal Antibody (JES6-1A12), Functional Grade, eBioscience™, Invitrogen™
Rat Monoclonal Antibody
Supplier: Invitrogen 16702285
Description
Description: The JES6-1A12 antibody reacts with mouse interleukin-2 (IL-2). The JES6-1A12 antibody is a neutralizing antibody. Mouse IL-2 (also known as TCGF) is a 17 kDa factor produced mainly by activated CD4+ T cells. IL-2 induces cell cycle progression of resting cells in an antigen non-specific manner and allows clonal expansion of activated T cells. IL-2 also acts on activated B cells, monocytes, NK cells, LAK cells, and on oligodendroglial cells in vitro. In addition, IL-2 plays a role in hematopoiesis, tumor surveillance and anti-inflammatory reactions, and hence is a central regulator of the immune response. Non-glycosylated IL-2 is biologically active. Applications Reported: The JES6-1A12 antibody has been reported for use in ELISA capture, ELISPOT capture, neutralization of IL-2 bioactivity, and IP. Applications Tested: The Functional Grade Purified JES6-1A12 antibody has been tested by LAL assay to verify low endotoxin levels, by ELISA, and in bioassay for neutralization of mouse IL-2 bioactivity. The JES6-1A12 antibody at 0.250 μg/mL has been found to inhibit by 50% the biological effects of 1.0 ng/mL mouse IL-2 in a CTLL-2 cell proliferation assay. Detailed information and protocols about cytokine bioassays and in vitro cytokine neutralization using antibodies can be found in the BestProtocols™ section.
Interleukin 2 (IL-2) is an immuno-modulatory cytokine that is important for the proliferation of activated T cells, differentiation of B cells, natural killer cells, monocytes and macrophages. IL-2 signals through the IL-2 receptor (IL-2R), a heterotrimeric protein complex whose gamma chain is also shared by interleukin 4 (IL-4) and interleukin 7 (IL-7). The expression of the IL-2 gene in mature thymocytes is monoallelic, which represents an unusual regulatory mode for controlling the precise expression of a single gene. The targeted disruption of a gene similar to IL-2 in mice leads to an μgcerative colitis-like disease that suggests an essential role of this gene in the immune response to antigenic stimuli.Specifications
