Hissing Cockroach (Gromphadorhina portentosa)
- Foss compatible and easily maintained in classroom terraria
- Provide hiding places (cardboard egg cartons work well), warmth, food and source of moisture
- Random sex
- Need permit for Arizona, California, Florida and Tennessee
Live Crickets (Acheta domesticus)
- Used for animal food, nutritional studies and other laboratory experiences
- Random sex
- Mixture of mature and immature only
Mealworms (Tenebrio molitor)
- Most often used as food for laboratory amphibians and reptiles, beetles also demonstrate complete metamorphosis
- Simple to culture in classroom
- At optimal temperature of 30°C, complete life cycle may take 4 to 6 months
Mealworm Stock Culture
- Contains 100 assorted specimens in various stages of maturity, including beetles, pupa, larvae and eggs
- Suitable for starting cultures
