The human insulin receptor is a heterotetrameric membrane glycoprotein consisting of disulfide-linked subunits in a Β-α-α-Β configuration. The Β-subunit (95kDa) possesses a single transmembrane domain with tyrosine kinase acivity, whereas the α-subunit (135kDa) is completely extracellular.

Epitope: aa-GRVLTLPRS- within the C-terminus

Positive Control: IM-9 lymphocyte cells

Cellular Localization: Membrane Ab-5 reacts with autophosphorylated and unoccupied receptors as well as the receptor-insulin complex. Ab-5 does not affect insulin-stimulated autophosphorylation.
