Description

A range of bacterial growth media and accessories for use in detecting and quantifying microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC). Media products are available as boxes of 12 vials, cases of 288 vials, and in the single tube quick-test format.

Sulfate Reducing Bacteria (SRB) contribute to MIC by producing hydrogen sulfide, which is a corrosive and toxic gas that has the odor of rotten eggs. SRB can also sour oil and gas reservoirs, create precipitates that plug openings and discolor water to black.

  • SRB: for quantification of sulfate reducing bacteria (Modified Postgates B Medium)
  • SRB-Q: quick format single tube test for SRB
  • SRB2: specially formulated clear SRB media
  • SRB-Q media provides a convenient way to estimate the concentration of SRB in water samples by changing the clarity of the color of the media from white to black
