Linoleic acid, a polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acid, is a precursor arachidonic acid and is a critical nutrient for healthy human development. Levels of linoleic acid may be monitored by mass spectrometry-based methods to assess essential fatty acid defficiency (EFAD) and peroxisomal disorders.
