Description

Laxco introduces a revolutionizing new concept in Cell Density Meters. The DSM series brings the ability to measure a cell’s density in micro-volumes and/or cuvettes/tubes. The DSM is a low-cost, portable device that can be used in small restricted spaces such as incubation cabinets or under anaerobic conditions. Its internal rechargeable battery allows it to be conveniently utilized anywhere in the lab or taken to areas where cultures are grown.

The DSM series 600nm wavelength light beam is absorbed by the cells as it passes through, and is output as a McFarland unit (McF), percentage of transmission (%T) or absorption (Abs). Test yeast, E. Coli and bacterial cultures (not recommended for mammalian cells) in suspension easily and accurately. The DSM internal memory will store up to 1000 data points, and can upload in excel format to a PC using DSM software (sold separately).

Each unit is inspected in the United States by a factory qualified technician under a ridged quality control process to insure its accuracy, and performance.

SAVINGS TECHNOLOGY
Laxco’s Energy Savings Technology is the core functionality behind the DSM’s high accuracy and repeatability. LED’s; like all illumination sources, will degrade over time in intensity and fluctuate in brightness levels while illuminated. This degradation and fluctuation will create inaccurate and unrepeatable readings both over the short and long term. The DSM Energy Savings technology overcomes these shortcomings by extending the life-span of the LED light source by as much as 10x longer than comparable systems, which prevents the need for maintenance or future calibration. All electronic devices produce electrical noise, which affects the accuracy and performance of the device. Laxco DSM has Noise Compensation Technology which removes any electrical noise prior to acquisition of the reading. Eliminating the noise ensures the highest level of accuracy of the reading.

NOISE COMPENSATION TECHNOLOGY

The DSM series moves user interface into the 21st century with capacitive touch
buttons. Capacitive buttons are more reliable than mechanical buttons such as membrane
switches, and they are easier to clean. The user can simply wipe down the front of the device and
be assured that no liquid will enter the device.

The DSM has a 3.5” gray scale graphical back-lit LCD display. The displays higher resolution allows for great visualization of charts and graphs, and a vast improvement over the more traditional segmented LCD displays that only can display predefined icons and segments.

LCD DISPLAY CAPACITIVE TOUCH
Functionality is packed into a small package with the DSM series. Quickly and accurately measure McFarland units, % transmission and absorbency in a micro-volume, cuvette or tube in either single measurement or time-lapse mode.

FUNCTIONALITY TIME LAPSE
With the MicroSpek™ DSM series, users have the ability to take cell density data over seconds,
minutes, or even hours. Data is automatically stored and can be recalled and displayed in either
chart or graph formats.

CHARTING
Store up to 2000 data points on the DSM series and be able to display them into a chart format. Easily scroll through the data with the up/down capacitive touch bottoms just below the screen.

GRAPHING
The DSM series allows data points to be displayed in graphical format for better visualization. Quickly and easily graph up to 2000 data points at a time.
