Description

The Mouse Hepatocyte Growth Factor(Ms HGF) Cell Lysates ELISA quantitates Ms HGF in mouse cell or tissue lysates. The assay will exclusively recognize both natural and recombinant Ms HGF. Principle of the method The Mouse HGF solid-phase sandwich ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is designed to measure the amount of the target bound between a matched antibody pair. A target-specific antibody has been pre-coated in the wells of the supplied microplate. Samples, standards, or controls are then added into these wells and bind to the immobilized (capture) antibody. The sandwich is formed by the addition of the second (detector) antibody, a substrate solution is added that reacts with the enzyme-antibody-target complex to produce measurable signal. The intensity of this signal is directly proportional to the concentration of target present in the original specimen. Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) is a member of the plasminogen subfamily of S1 peptidases. The inactive polypeptide formed upon translation undergoes cleavage to produce a 69 kDa alpha-chain and 34 kDa beta-chain. A disulphide bond between the two chains makes active HGF. HGF is secreted by mesenchymal cells and stimulates mitogenesis, cell motility, and matrix invasion. It is involved in cellular growth and morphogenesis in a wide variety of tissue types. In humans, HGF is present on chromosome 7.
