R&D Systems™ Peroxynitrite, Positive Control for Anti-Nitrotyrosine Mab
For use in the preparation of positive control proteins and cell lysates for immunoreactivity assays
Supplier: R&D Systems™ AR006
Description
Peroxynitrite is one of the major antimicrobial constituents produced by macrophages. It is usually generated by the nonenzymatic interaction of nitric oxide with superoxide anion. Since it is highly reactive in its own right, Peroxynitrite undergoes addition to a variety of cellular macromolecules, including tyrosine, cysteine, and tryptophan residues in proteins. The tyrosine adducts in proteins are chemically stable and have been used as markers of oxidative damage in pathological conditions such as chronic inflammation, adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and ischemic brain injury.
- Synthesized by the reaction of hydrogen peroxide with sodium nitrite under acidic conditions
- Although highly reactive at physiological pH, Peroxynitrite is stable at highly alkaline pH and can be stored frozen for long periods with minimal decomposition
