Description
Effectively carry out testing of quaternary ammonium compounds for antimicrobial activity using Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Letheen Broth. This subculture medium was developed for neutralization of quaternary ammonium compounds1. Quisno, Gibby, and Foter discovered that adding lecithin and polysorbate 80 to FDA Broth resulted in a medium that neutralized high concentrations of quaternary ammonium salts2. It is used to recover bacteria from solutions containing residues of disinfectant used in the sanitization of food utensils and equipments. It is recommended by the Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC) for cultivation of microorganisms from cosmetic samples3.
