Members of this family are characterized by the presence of conserved SNF2 domain, a helicase-like region. Although SNF2L1 has a ubiquitous expression pattern, its active form is expressed in neurons suggesting a possible role in promoting neutrite outgrowth and regulating neuronal physiology.
