Invitrogen™ Sortilin Polyclonal Antibody
Rabbit Polyclonal Antibody
Supplier: Invitrogen™ PA519481
Description
PA5-19481 targets Sortilin in flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry (frozen), and Western blot applications and shows reactivity with Human, mouse, Cow, and Rat samples. The PA5-19481 immunogen is synthetic peptide conjugated to KLH derived from within residues 800 to the C-terminus of Human Sortilin. PA5-19481 detects Sortilin which has a predicted molecular weight of approximately ~100 kDa.
Sortilin functions as a sorting receptor in the Golgi compartment and as a clearance receptor on the cell surface. Sortilin is required for protein transport from the Golgi apparatus to the lysosomes by a pathway that is independent of the mannose-6-phosphate receptor (M6PR). It is also required for protein transport from the Golgi apparatus to the endosomes. Sortilin promotes neuronal apoptosis by mediating endocytosis of the proapoptotic precursor forms of BDNF (proBDNF) and NGFB (proNGFB). Also, Sortilin acts as a receptor for neurotensin.
