Description
Determine in vitro quantity of total protein in human serum or plasma on both manual and automated clinical chemistry systems with Thermo Scientific Total Protein Reagent.
Serum total protein consists primarily of albumin and globulin. Measurements are useful in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of diseases involving the liver, kidney, bone marrow and other metabolic and nutritional disorders. Increased levels are observed with multiple myeloma, chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis, Addison's disease, diabetic acidosis, chronic inflammation and dehydration. Decreased levels are observed in chronic alcoholism, heart failure, nephrotic syndrome, malabsorption or starvation, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Reagent is a stable liquid and thus minimizes laboratory reagent waste.
