It has numerous pharmacological effects, including anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, anticancer, antimicrobial, hepatoprotective, neuroprotective and cytoprotective properties. Phloretin is a potent antioxidant, scavenging peroxynitrite ONOO- and/or suppressing lipid peroxidation, which contributes to the many biological properties.
