Pifithrin-α, p-Nitro, Cyclic is a cell-permeable, active-form p53 inhibitor used in research to inhibit p53-dependent transcriptional activity and protect cells from p53-mediated apoptosis. It shows increased potency and a longer half-life compared with pifithrin-α, and demonstrates neuroprotective activity in etoposide-exposed cortical neurons (ED50 = 30 nM).
- Cell-permeable active-form p53 inhibitor.
- Higher potency than the parent compound; neuroprotective at low nanomolar concentrations.
- Acts via post-transcriptional inhibition of p53 without preventing S15 phosphorylation.
- High chemical purity suitable for research applications.
- Supplied in milligram-scale quantities for laboratory use.
