The cells have an application in microbial (eg, viral, bacterial) infection and pathogenesis, airway inflammation and wound healing, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic bronchitis, toxicology, and testing of pharmaceuticals.

Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

The included cell line overexpresses ProLink-tagged CXCR6 and EA-tagged β-Arrestin-2. Activation of CXCR6 stimulates the recruitment of β-Arrestin-2 and produces EFC signal.
