GGsTop (Nahlsgen) is a potent, non-toxic, highly selective, and irreversible γ-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) inhibitor. It shows a Ki of 170 μM for Human GGT and exhibits Kons of 150 M-1 s-1 against E.coli GGT and 51 M-1 s-1 against human GGT. GGsTop protects against hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury in a rat model. It does not inhibit glutamine amidotransferases or asparagine synthetase, and suppresses oxidative stress by inhibiting GGT activation. It also prevents ischemia/reperfusion-induced acute kidney injury in rats in vivo.
