The enzyme has been used to hydrolyze sago palm starch to reducing sugars, which are then used for ethanol fermentation by Saccharomyces cerevisiae FNCC 3012. The enzyme catalyzes amylolysis of gelatinised waxy maize starch to produce reducing sugars.
