Adrenalone hydrochloride is an adrenergic agonist used as a topical vasoconstrictor and hemostatic. It is also an inhibitor of dopamine β oxidase and is chemically similar to known norepinephrine transporter (NET) ligands with an IC50 of 36.9 μM. It is a topical nasal decongestant, hemostatic, and vasoconstrictor, and a keton form of the natural substrate epinephrine. Adrenalone hydrochloride inhibits the activity of dopamine β-oxidase and substrate transport by NET.
