Aprotinin is a 58 amino acid small protein derived from bovine lung tissue that is highly positively charged and contains three disulfide bonds. It is a competitive inhibitor of several serine proteases, including trypsin, chymotrypsin, thrombin, and plasmin. In clinical, it is used as an anti-clotting agent for reducing bleeding.
