Azalamellarin N is an inhibitor of pyroptosis with varying inhibitory effects on different pyroptosis inducers. It inhibits pyroptosis by targeting molecules upstream of NLRP3 inflammasome activation, rather than directly targeting NLRP3 inflammasome components.

  • Inhibits activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome.
  • Strongly inhibited ATP- and nigericin-induced IL-1β release.
  • Modestly inhibited R837-induced IL-1β release.
  • Inhibited nigericin-induced cleavage of caspase-1.
  • Suppressed ATP-induced oligomerization of ASC.
  • Shows cytotoxicity in A549 cells with an IC50 of 0.0155 μM.
  • Shows cytotoxicity in NCI-H1975 cells with an IC50 of 0.0019 μM.
