BGC-20-1531 (PGN 1531) free base is a potent and selective prostanoid EP4 receptor antagonist with a pKB of 7.6. It has potential for migraine headache research, competitively antagonizing PGE2-induced vasodilatation in human middle cerebral and meningeal arteries, while showing no effect on responses induced by PGE2 in coronary, pulmonary or renal arteries. In vivo, it causes a dose-dependent antagonism of PGE2-induced increase in canine carotid blood flow.
