Clorsulon is an orally active flukicidal agent. It works by inhibiting glycolysis, the primary energy production pathway in flukes. It also acts as a competitive inhibitor of 3-phosphoglycolate and ATP, thereby inhibiting glucose utilization and the formation of acetate and propionate by mature *Fasciola hepatica* in vitro. It is used in studies of liver fluke (*Fasciola hepatica* and *Fasciola gigantica*) infection in calves and sheep.
