[Des-Arg9]-Bradykinin acetate is a Bradykinin B1 receptor agonist that displays selectivity for B1 over B2 receptors. The B2 receptor is responsible for the actions of bradykinin (BK) and lysyl-bradykinin (Lys-BK), which are formed in response to injury from kininogen precursors. The B1 receptor, however, mediates the actions of [Des-Arg9]-Bradykinin (des-Arg9-BK) and Lys-des-Arg Arg9-BK, which are formed by carboxypeptidases acting on BK and Lys-BK.
