Doxazosin Mesylate (CAS 77883-43-3) is a selective long-acting antagonist of 1-adrenoceptors It has been reported to enhance serotonin (5-HT)-induced contraction responses in a dose-dependent manner In animal models doxazosin administration decreases alcohol consumption and elevates water intake Furthermore doxazosin demonstrates anti-inflammatory effects inhibiting TNF- production in LPS-induced systemic inflammation and reducing MCP-1 expression in LPS-mediated pulmonary inflammation It similarly attenuates paw edema in delayed-type hypersensitivity and slightly reduces MCP-1 in a thioglycolate-induced peritoneal inflammation model
