Epirubicin hydrochloride is a semisynthetic L-arabino derivative of doxorubicin. It acts as an antineoplastic agent by inhibiting Topoisomerase and DNA/RNA synthesis. It also functions as a Foxp3 inhibitor, inhibiting regulatory T cell activity.

• Exerts antitumor effects by complexing with DNA, causing damage and interfering with DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis.

• Maximal cell kill occurs during the S phase of the cell cycle; higher concentrations affect early G2, G1, and M phases.
