Ethoxylated hydrogenated castor oil (PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil) is a combination of synthetic polyethylene glycol (PEG) with natural castor oil. It can be used to emulsify and solubilize oil-in-water (o/w) emulsions, and can also serve as a cosolvent in vivo.

  • Can be used to emulsify and solubilize oil-in-water (o/w) emulsions.
  • Acts as a cosolvent in vivo.
  • Showed no systemic toxicity in short-term toxicity studies at doses of 300 and 900 mg/kg.
  • Blank nanoemulsion using this product as a surfactant did not produce hazardous effects or affect food intake when given orally to mice.
