FABPs ligand 6 (MF6) is an inhibitor of FABP5 and FABP7, with KD values of 874 nM and 20 nM, respectively. It is utilized in multiple sclerosis research, where it can restore mitochondrial function by inhibiting voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC)-1-dependent mitochondrial macropore formation. In vivo studies have shown that MF6 can improve the severity of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) and reduce oxidative levels and inflammatory responses.
