Guadecitabine sodium is a second-generation DNA methyltransferases (DNMT) inhibitor used for research related to acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). It is effective at reducing DNA methylation and retarding tumor growth, showing better tolerability than 5-Aza-CdR in vivo.
- Increases p16 expression in colorectal carcinoma cells.
- Inhibits DNA methylation and induces p16 at mRNA and protein levels.
- Shows reduced toxicity compared to 5-aza-CdR at lower doses.
- Reduces DNA methylation and retards tumor growth.
- Reactivates p16 gene expression in EJ6 cells.
- Demonstrates better tolerability in vivo compared to 5-Aza-CdR.
