Ham's Nutrient Mixtures, F-10 and F-12, were both originally developed to support the growth of a variety of cells, particularly the Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells, with or without serum supplementation. Ham's F-10 has since been used in the culture of a wide variety of cell of human and animal origin. Ham's F-12 is preferred by many for the culture of rodent cells. It has also shown excellent results as a cloning medium for myeloma and hybridoma cells. Ham's F-12 Nutrient Mixture, Kaighn's Modification, includes L-glutamine.
