Human respiratory syncytial virus A strain Long (ATCC VR-26™) is a whole-genome sequenced prototype strain for subgroup A that was isolated in 1956 from a 17-month-old male with pneumonia. This virus is propagated in HEp-2 cells and can be used in respiratory disease research and virucide testing.
