iE-DAP dihydrochloride is a Nod1 agonist. It activates the NOD1 receptor, triggering NF-κB and MLCK signaling pathways, which lead to cellular inflammatory responses and tight junction disruption. It downregulates ZO-1 and Occludin genes. In human trophoblast cell cultures, it increases secretion of cytokines like IL-6, GRO-α, MCP-1, IL-8, and MIP-1β. In pregnant mice, iE-DAP dihydrochloride induces preterm birth, reduces fetal body weight, and causes fetal inflammation, making it applicable for studies related to mastitis and preterm birth.
