Latanoprost is a prostaglandin F2α analogue and an agonist for the FP prostanoid receptor. It is primarily used in glaucoma research to effectively reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) by increasing the outflow of aqueous humor through the uvea. It can effectively pass through the cornea and is hydrolyzed by esterase to latanoprost acid.
