Mammalian orthoreovirus 1 (strain Lang) is a frozen viral culture supplied for virology research and propagation. The isolate was derived from a rectal swab of a healthy child in Ohio, U.S., with an origin year of 1953. Next-generation sequencing identified an additional orthoreovirus (orthoreovirus 3) in the sample. For passage, harvest cell cultures after complete involvement of the cell sheet; culture fluid contains a group-specific CF antigen, and mycoplasma testing was negative. Store at -70°C or colder.
